MBBS in India vs MBBS Abroad - Which is Better in 2023?

Namaste doston! So you want to pursue MBBS and are confused between doing it in India or overseas? It’s an important decision that impacts your career greatly. In this blog, I will compare MBBS in India and Abroad on key factors like fees, quality, eligibility etc. to help you decide what’s best for your situation in 2023. Chalo shuru karte hai!

Fees and Affordability

Doing MBBS in government colleges in India is quite affordable with fees from ₹10,000-50,000 per year. However, private colleges charge much higher fees ranging from ₹80 lakhs to 1.5 crores total.

On the other hand, studying MBBS abroad can be done at a lower cost between ₹30-40 lakhs total in countries like Ukraine, Russia, Philippines. This includes tuition fees, living expenses and travel for the entire duration of medical education.

So contrary to perception, MBBS overseas can be a cheaper option compared to private medical colleges in India. Students get quality education plus international exposure for less overall investment.

Eligibility Criteria

In India, you need 50% in PCB in 12th standard and qualify NEET with good rank to get government college. Private colleges allow admissions at lower NEET ranks too. For MBBS abroad, each university has its own eligibility norms. But you need 50% in 12th PCB and many require qualifying entrance tests like IELTS, SAT etc.

Quality of Education

Government medical colleges in India like AIIMS have excellent education quality and global rankings. But lack of practical training is a drawback. Abroad MBBS focuses extensively on clinical rotations from 2nd year itself. But curriculum may vary across universities and countries.

Options after Graduation

After MBBS in India, you can pursue MD/MS/Diploma in India in your specialization of choice. Limited options for overseas practice.

Foreign MBBS graduates can practice in India after clearing FMGE exam. Also, easier prospects for studying and working abroad after your overseas MBBS.

So in summary, MBBS in India is more affordable but abroad offers more global exposure and practical training. Choose what aligns best with your career goals and budget!

Here are some quick questions Indian students often have:

Yes, NEET competition is very high. Need thorough preparation and good AIR rank.
Yes, MCI recognizes foreign MBBS degrees from approved universities.
Philippines, Russia, Kyrgyzstan offer simpler admission process for overseas MBBS.
Yes, many students take up freelancing or campus jobs to earn stipend.
So that’s a detailed comparison between pursuing your medical dream in India vs overseas! Let me know in comments if you need any other guidance.
